Tip 2: On the road with Isotonic Sports Drink and Endurance Bars
During hikes, it is important to maintain your energy and fluid balance, especially on hot days. Drinking water is good, but isotonic or hypotonic sports drinks are better because they are absorbed faster by the body. This is because its osmotic value is more similar to your body's fluid, so it can pass through the stomach faster. Read more about the different forms of drinks through this blog
- Isotonic preparation: mix one nearly full scoop (40g) of powder with 500ml of water for energy and hydration.
- Hypotonic preparation: mix half a scoop (20g) of powder with 500ml of water for mainly hydration.

- Take-home tip: Put some powder in a sealable bag so you can easily refill your water bottle on the go.
In addition to hydration, it is important to eat regularly. Our Endurance Bars are specially made for longer efforts as they contain both fast and slow sugars and MCT fats that help with energy from fat.

Tip #3: Make sure you have a good recovery!
After a day of intense hiking, it is crucial to allow your body to recover properly. This not only helps reduce muscle soreness and fatigue, but also ensures that you can perform optimally again the next day.
- Right after your hike: Start replenishing fluids and electrolytes. Drink our All-in-One Recovery Drink to quickly restore your fluid balance and provide your muscles with needed protein, minerals and carbohydrates.
- Use recovery products: The All-in-One Recovery Drink contains the right mix of proteins, minerals and carbohydrates to help your muscles recover and restore your energy levels.
- Nutritious dinner: Eat a meal rich in protein and carbohydrates within two hours of the walk. Consider dishes such as chicken with sweet potatoes or a quinoa salad with vegetables and salmon.
- Rest: Get enough sleep to give your body time to recover and repair muscles.
Tip 4: Start eating differently the days before
Prepare your body by increasing your carbohydrate intake in the days leading up to the Marches. This helps build up your glycogen stores, which is essential for prolonged exercise. If necessary, also read this blog about stacking
Tip 5: Drink extra in the 2 days before the 4daagse
Be sure to drink extra the days before the Four-Day Walk to start hydrated. Drink water or hypotonic drinks spread throughout the day to keep your fluid balance up.

Also, train with all these nutrition tips and don't suddenly start doing this at the event itself. Try to use some of these nutrition tips in the training sessions beforehand, so you won't have any surprises during the Four Days Marches.
