What is cyclocross to me?
For me, cyclocross is more than a sport. It is a passion that I have had since childhood. I never wanted to ride a bike before but when I turned 10 that changed completely. I told my dad I wanted to ride a bike and less than a week later there was a bike in the living room. And since then I can't imagine my life without one!
Over the years, a few things did change. Every year I got older, I took cycling a little more seriously. Proper nutrition is one of the things you have to start taking more seriously as the level increases. In 2016 I came into contact with BYE! nutrition for the first time.
For me, it was the first sports nutrition brand that I could take because it has no artificial sweeteners.
You see, I get very sick of artificial sweeteners and believe me, these days they're in almost everything.?
In the winter I use BYE! mainly for my races. Because the cross season is of course in full swing in the winter. Because I am usually very cold in the winter I often forget to drink / eat. That's why I put an extra scoop of isotonic powder in my water bottle in the winter to get enough nutrients. I also mainly eat gels because I can't eat bars because of the cold. On race day I drink at least 2 bottles of isotonic sports drink before the race. When I start my warm-up on the rollers, I take 1 gel after my first block and I also take an energyshot 15 min before the start. Just before the start (about 3 minutes) I take another magnesium shot against cramp. After the race, I then drink a Recovery Shake?chocolate? with milk when I'm loosening up on the rollers.
